Raiz Project held at the Embassy of Brazil in Paris

Organized by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, (Apex-Brasil), the Raiz Project – an initiative to promote the internationalization of the national designers – continues its roadshow program held in European embassies. Following the success of the first exhibition held in June in Rome, Italy, the products developed by 18 design studios go to France.  Participants include studiopoli, Noemi Saga, Sergio Fahrer and Jack Fahrer, NDT Design, Aristeu Pires, Paulo Alves, estudiobola, Ronald Sasson, ITENS by Ana Neute, Jader Almeida, Leo Romano, Guto Indio da Costa, Marta Manente, Alessandra Delgado, Plataforma 4, Carol Gay, Cristiano Valle and Gustavo Martini. The event takes place from September 11-17, during the Paris Design Week, and is part of the official catalog of attractions of the Parisian circuit. It aims to establish a direct connection between designers, shopkeepers, manufacturers and investors for increasing the licensing and distribution chains in the European market. The designers participating in the roadshow were invited to join a round-table meeting that will take place at the Maison & Objet fair held  in the same period To inaugurate the exhibition, individual lectures by designers André Poli and Aristeu Pires, members of the Raiz Project, will present an overview of their careers and main creations. Eduardo Nuncio, director of the Salão Design Award,  will also participate in the ceremony, associating the value of the Brazilian features based on this important prize. Another lecturer is Rafael Andrade, coordinator of design and innovation of the Center for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), and curator of the Design under the Skin project. The program encompasses Brazilian Leather, an initiative to encourage Brazilian leather exports. For the opening cocktail, a special menu was planned by Chef Vico Crocco from Rio Grande do Sul. The event has the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maison & Objet and Paris Design Week. The next stop of the show is the Brazilian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, in February 2018. The Raiz Project, established in 2012, is part of the Orchestra Brasil Project (carried out since 2006), a partnership between Sindmóveis and Apex-Brasil, aimed at the internationalization of Brazilian suppliers to the furniture industry. This design program stimulates the participation and the strengthening of the Brazilian furniture designers abroad through customized strategic action plans.
