The Salão Design Award totaled 629 entries

The 2018 Salão Design Award

According to the organizers of the 2018 Salão Design Award, an estimated 629 projects from 11 countries are taking part in the 22nd competition:

Throughout this month, the judging panel will evaluate the entries one by one. The finalists announced on November 13 will then submit their products for the evaluation of the judges and the choice of the winners in Bento Gonçalves.

This year, the judging committee consists of Brazilian designers Brunno Jahara, Bruno Faucz, Letícia Grisa, Nicole Tomazi and Salvatore Figliuzzi from Germany. As foreseen in the regulation, in the first qualifying phase, jurors consider aspects such as project creativity and originality; concept; form and function; competitive advantage in relation to what already exists; materials used; manufacturing technology; finish; level of sustainability and production feasibility.

The 2018 Salão Design Award Sponsors

Sponsored by Berneck and Interprint, the Salão Design Award is the largest product design award in Latin America and will celebrates its 30th anniversary organized by Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves in 2018. This year there will be more cash prizes. Each class (Student, Professional and Industry/Retail) will have first, second and third places, which will receive R$ 12,000, R$ 8,000 and R$ 6,000, respectively. Three super awards will also be given to the best products of the competition, regardless of its class: R$ 20,000, R$ 15,000 and R$ 12,000.

The award winners will be announced in February, but their places will only be disclosed at the award ceremony, during Movelsul Brasil 2018, a furniture fair for shopkeepers and specifiers held in Bento Gonçalves, from March 12-15.
