Making the furniture fair history
Since 1977, Movelsul Brasil has offered support to strengthen the furniture industry in Bento Gonçalves, bearing in mind that society develops around an industry and its production. To celebrate the 20th Movelsul Brasil, Sindmóveis devised initiatives that involve the local community and reinforce the message that Bento Gonçalves is home to the main furniture center in Brazil.
We are Furniture Project
Through the Somos Móveis Project, Sindimóveis will develop three major events that are an invitation to reflect on the important role that the furniture industry plays in the city and how the fruits of this sector crossed boundaries and spread around the world. In addition to a portal on the internet containing information about the previous shows and an itinerant event from January to March, a period preceding the fair, Movelsul Brasil wants to leave a legacy for the community from the perspective of design.
This legacy consists of the revitalization of toys located at the Achyles Mincarone square in São Bento area. To enable the initiative, Sindmóveis invited Bria Design, Eduardo Nuncio, Intervento Design Studio Marta Manente, Projeto 3 and UNT Design to create new pieces for the playground. The project complies with the Brazilian manufacturing standards and is supervised by an architect. Sindmóveis will be in charge of manufacturing the toys and the Municipal Environment and Tourism departments will give support to their installation. A grand opening event will be held in January, marking the beginning of the celebrations of the 20th Movelsul Brasil.
The history of Movelsul Brasil will be told on the web in a timeline format with all the material picked up from Sindmóveis image databank. This file will be transformed into a collaborative and informative social network. Featuring an interactive website, contributions may be posted in the portal. The idea is to create a major public archive of the fair history.
The community will be invited to share all actions with #SomosMóveis. The 20th Movelsul Brasil, the largest furniture fair in Latin America for shopkeepers and specifiers
